Tobramycin sulphate is a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by Streptomyces tenebrarius. It is highly active against Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and is widely used in microbiology and cell culture applications. Tobramycin is commonly applied for bacterial contamination control and as a tool for studying protein synthesis and antimicrobial resistance. Mechanism of Action: Tobramycin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of mRNA and inhibition of protein synthesis. This results in the production of nonfunctional proteins and ultimately leads to bacterial cell death.
