NLN Medium is a plant tissue culture medium developed for anther cultures of Brassica napus in liquid medium and for the induction of haploid plants from isolated pollen. The formulation is optimized for microspore-derived embryogenesis under in vitro conditions. A key feature of NLN medium is that it is provided free of calcium nitrate, which distinguishes it from many other basal media and favors embryogenic responses in pollen cultures. The defined mineral composition supports efficient haploid induction and embryo development. This medium is widely used in Brassica breeding and doubled haploid production systems.
