Nitsch Medium is a plant tissue culture medium developed for reproductive and developmental studies.It was originally developed for the initiation and culture of haploid plants from tobacco (Nicotiana) microspores. The formulation was established through iterative optimization of nutrient ratios and plant growth regulator balance to improve in vitro performance, particularly for species that respond poorly to generalized media. NN medium provides a tailored mineral environment that supports androgenesis and controlled morphogenesis. It has since become a widely used medium for haploid culture and specialized tissue culture systems across multiple plant species.
